What is a Poolside?

Poolside refers to when someone makes a spectacular blunder on the VeVe marketplace by misjudging market conditions, named for an infamous user by the name of @poolside.

Usage:

That idiot thought he was manipulating the market, but he pulled a full poolside instead.

Full Definition:

The legend of Poolside was born on January 8, 2022.

On that day there was a drop for Memicorno Series 2. However, due to an issue with IMX, only a few users were delivered their collectibles even hours after the drop.

One user, by the name of @poolside, saw that there were only a few collectibles on the market and mistook it to mean that the collectibles were scarce & popular, and swept the floor to the tune of 11,298 gems in order to attempt to control the supply.

When the delivery issue was eventually fixed and the price of Mermicornos came crashing down, @poolside posted about his blunder on the VeVe Facebook group, and quickly became a meme within the VeVe community.

The term “poolside” soon became synonymous with any user who misjudged the total available supply of a collectible and suffered losses trying to manipulate the market.

The term has since come to be used to refer more generally for any massive blunder within the VeVe marketplace.

Users attempting to avoid poolsiding should keep in mind the following:

1. Always check the delivery percent of a collectible on drop day
2. The total supply for a collectible is higher than what the marketplace shows. More people will list if prices increase
3. Don’t try to manipulate the market
